Polish presidential candidate Nawrocki explained why he does not see Ukraine in the EU and NATO Darya Smorodskaya

One of the candidates for the presidency of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, stated that today he does not see the possibility of Ukraine joining the EU or NATO. But Poland supported the Ukrainians and will continue to do so.

This is reported by 24 Kanal with reference to Polsat News. Karol Nawrocki supported his position by exhuming the bodies of the victims of the Volyn tragedy in Ukraine.

Karol Nawrocki's opinion on Ukraine's accession to the EU and NATO

Commenting on the statement of the newly elected US President Donald Trump about Ukraine joining NATO, Nawrocki said that he “has a strong opinion” on this matter. According to him, Ukraine cannot join international alliances now.

Today I do not see Ukraine in any structure – neither in the European Union, nor in NATO, until such important for Poles civilizational issues are resolved. A country that is not able to answer for a very cruel crime worth 120,000 zlotys cannot be part of international alliances, – noted the candidate for the presidency of Poland.

Karol Nawrocki also added that the agreement concluded between the heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Poland on the exhumation of the bodies of Poles killed in Ukraine is “an unnecessary and premature step of the head of Polish diplomacy”.

But if Nawrocki becomes the President of the Republic of Poland, he will talk to the Ukrainian side about the fact that the Polish side, its “financial efforts, efforts of citizens, military efforts that helped Ukraine, would like Ukraine to treat it as a partner.” This cooperation also includes the possibility of burying women and children who died during the Volyn tragedy.

I would like to clearly state that the Institute of National Remembrance (…) can support the government's efforts in the matter of exhumation in Volyn. Here, the Polish case is much more important to us. We would like a breakthrough, but there is none yet, – said Karol Nawrocki.

It is worth noting! Karol Nawrocki currently heads the Polish Institute of National Remembrance. The Poles have asked him to begin work on searching for and exhuming the remains of Poles in the Rivne region. The institute plans to do this in 2025.

Ukraine and Poland cooperate on the Volyn tragedy of 1943

In December, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk spoke about some progress in resolving historical issues between the Polish and Ukrainian sides. He noted that history should not separate the two countries, which need to maintain cooperation.
