A Polish farmer who hung a banner with a pro-Kremlin slogan and praised communist ideology on his tractor during protests near the border with Ukraine has been formally charged.

As reported by RMF24, the man could face up to five years in prison.

On the man’s tractor there was a poster with an inscription in which he called on Putin “to restore order in Ukraine, Brussels and our officials”. He also installed a red flag with communist symbols on the tractor.

Law enforcement officers detained the driver of the tractor, conducted photo and video recording, and seized a banner and flag.

The police materials were first sent to the prosecutor's office in Wodzisław Szlański, from where they were transferred to the Gliwice-Szczuda District Prosecutor's Office, which investigates hate crimes.

The day before, an investigation into this incident was launched, and the farmer was summoned for questioning.

Press secretary of the Gliwice District Prosecutor's Office Joanna Smorczewska reported that Piotr G. was charged with public incitement to unleash an aggressive war against Poland and public praise waging an aggressive war against Ukraine.

The second part of the charge concerns the public propaganda of communist ideology in connection with the hanging of the USSR flag.

Recall that on February 20, near the village of Gozhichi, on one of the tractors that participated in the protests of Polish farmers, a poster supporting a full-scale war by Russia against Ukraine was noticed.

It was written: Putin, restore order in Ukraine, in Brussels, and with our officials. The USSR flag was attached to the tractor.
