Polish carriers plan to go on strike on the border with Ukraine: what is the reason

On November 3, Polish carriers plan to start a strike on the Ukrainian border and threaten to close all checkpoints with Ukraine.

According to the International Transport Association of Ukraine, the action is planned for two months.

“The first meeting of participants has already been agreed upon with local authorities near the Korcheva checkpoint for 10 am on November 3,” the message says.

The Poles say the reason for their strikes is excessive competition after the liberalization of international transport between Ukraine and EU countries.

Polish carriers require:

  • return permits to Ukrainian carriers;
  • tighten the ECMT transportation rules for foreign carriers;
  • inability to register companies in Poland if the company’s finances are not located in the EU;
  • a separate queue in the E-queue for cars with EU license plates;
  • a separate queue at all borders for empty trucks;
  • gain access to the Shlyakh system.

Let us remind you that in May, Polish carriers blocked the work of the Yagodyn checkpoint in Volyn for several days.

Protesters are demanding the return of permits for international road freight transport for Ukrainian carriers, which were canceled as part of the transport visa-free regime that began last summer between Ukraine and the European Union.
