The Baltic countries and Poland do not rule out sending their troops to Ukraine. This could happen if the Russian army has significant successes at the front.

Journalists from Der Spiegel noted that this position of representatives of Poland and the Baltic countries was also influenced by the reluctance of the German side to provide long-range weapons to Ukraine, as well as the ban on using Western weapons on Russian territory.

Poland and the Baltic countries do not exclude the introduction of troops into Ukraine

Journalists from the German publication noted that during the conference on foreign policy and politics Lennart Mary security meeting last week in the capital of Estonia, parliamentarians from the Baltic countries expressed concern to German government representatives about the consequences of Berlin's position on the war in Ukraine.

In particular, it refers to the refusal to provide the Ukrainian army with long-range weapons and the ban on the Ukrainian Armed Forces using Western weapons to attack Russian territory.

As Spiegel writes, Baltic politicians warned that If the West continues to provide only half-hearted support to Kyiv, there is a risk that Russia will make a strategic breakthrough in eastern Ukraine. This could lead to a sharp escalation of the situation.

In this case, the Baltic countries and Poland will not wait for the deployment of Russian troops on their borders, the Baltic countries warned politicians – they themselves will send troops to Ukraine. And what this would mean was clear: NATO would become a party to the war, the publication says.

According to journalists, this is exactly the scenario that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and US President Joe Biden. Therefore, the publication summarized that those who want to “limit the war due to excessive restraint” actually risk “spreading it out of control.”

Scholz is against the use of Western weapons to strike Russia

  • Chancellor Germany Olaf Scholz noted on May 26 that he believes that there is now no reason to expand the zone of action of Western weapons in the war in Ukraine.
  • Scholz recalled for the “clear rules that were agreed with Ukraine.” He also explained his position by saying that the goal of his policy towards Ukraine is “to prevent this conflict from escalating into a big war.”
  • It is worth noting that he was previously a member of the Green Party “Anton Goffreiter called on the German government to allow Ukraine to attack Russian territory with Western weapons. According to the politician, this is necessary to protect the Ukrainian population from Russian aggression.
