An electronic petition to lower the mobilization age for men from 60 to 50 years has collected the necessary 25 thousand votes. Now it must be considered by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The petition was created on the website of the Office of the President on July 5, 2024. There are still 34 days left until the collection of the required signatures is completed.

The author of the petition is Andriy Azarov.
According to him, the purpose of the petition to reduce the mobilization age for men from 60 to 50 years is to improve the economic situation in Ukraine.
Note that according to Ukrainian law, an electronic petition is considered by the head of state if it collects at least 25 thousand signatures of citizens within three months from the date of its publication.
So, given that the petition has already collected more than 25 thousand votes, Volodymyr Zelensky must consider it.

We will add that earlier, Defense Ministry spokesman Dmitry Lazutkin stated that as of the end of July, the number of those who updated their military registration data significantly exceeds the needs of the troops. Therefore, according to him, there are no prerequisites for reducing the draft age.
Lazutkin explained that the situation in the war depends on a number of factors and the need to reduce the draft age may also change.
“We do not see such a need (to reduce the draft age) now,” the Defense Ministry representative emphasized at the time.
Recall that on April 2, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law reducing the draft age, which is also called the law on mobilization from 25 years.
The reduction of the draft age stipulates that citizens who are 25 years old will be subject to removal from the military register of conscripts and registration for military service military personnel.
