Debris removal continues in Kremenchug/Kirill Timoshenko
On June 27, 2022, Russian troops launched rockets at Kremenchug. One of them hit a shopping center, where there were more than a thousand people.
The fire is almost extinguished, but there are still small pockets of fire. Irina Solyanik, a correspondent from Poltava, told Channel 24 about this.
According to her, rescuers have already managed to sort out almost half of the rubble.
They work very carefully, because no one knows how many bodies can be found at this place of fire. Perhaps this will last for several days, – said Irina Solyanik.
“People, of course, are in shock. Kremenchuk was shelled three times before, but it was in the industrial zone. People heard explosions, they were scared, but there was no such attack,” the correspondent added.
In addition, she said that this is a rather crowded place and is located a few kilometers from the central square. There are many infrastructure facilities, residential buildings, and enterprises nearby. That is, the Russians understood where they were shooting and what their goal was.
What is known about Russian shelling in Kremenchug
- On the afternoon of June 27, the Russian armed forces attacked the mall in Kremenchug with missiles. As a result of the cynical shelling by the Russian military, at least 16 people were unfortunately killed. Volodymyr Zelensky was the first to officially publish a video of the consequences of an enemy attack. The Ukrainian leader said that the number of victims is unimaginable.
- Zelensky added that the mall did not pose any danger to the Russian army or any strategic value. The occupiers are angered by the attempts of Ukrainians to live a normal life.
- In total, the fire area was more than 10,000 square meters. 115 people and 20 units of special equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. Rescuers from all nearby areas were sent to the scene to put out the fire and work on eliminating the consequences.
- Russian propagandists invent that the strike was supposedly at a local oil refinery. According to Russian propagandists, there are supposedly “no” casualties among the local population.
