A ceasefire in Ukraine is possible in the not-too-distant future, US President Donald Trump said during a conversation with journalists at the White House.

According to Trump, new elections should be held in Ukraine at some point.
He suggested that Ukraine is unlikely to regain control of the territories temporarily occupied by Russia. However, he noted that Ukraine may manage to get some of the land back.

Trump noted that he does not see a threat in dialogue with the Russian Federation without Ukraine and expects Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to visit the United States.
— I plan to communicate with Putin frequently by phone. The first meeting in Saudi Arabia could be followed by another, Trump suggested.
The US President said that he offered Putin a ceasefire in Ukraine, but heard from the Kremlin dictator that he did not want only a temporary solution to the situation.
At the same time, Trump said that the head of the US Treasury Department should bring from Kyiv a document with guarantees of the return of funds invested in supporting Ukraine.
Trump called the journalist's question about whether he considers Ukraine an equal participant in the peace process interesting.
— People are being killed. This is a bad war. I think they will have to make peace. That's what I think, — answered the head of the White House.
The US President also said that he is satisfied with the removal of the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO.
It has recently become known that Trump may hold a meeting with Putin in Saudi Arabia. At the same time, he is not ready to name the date when this will happen.
