In Zaporizhia, in the temporarily occupied Melitopol, the banking system hardly works. In order to get cash, people are forced to stand in line for 5-6 days.

Only Privatbank and A-bank operate in the city. The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, spoke about this on Channel 24.

According to him, people cannot receive more than a thousand hryvnias in cash. Given this, there are businessmen in Melitopol who offer to give the locals some amount in cash, but for a certain percentage of the commission.

It is quite difficult to pay with bank cards, the mayor said.

However, pensioners remain the most vulnerable in this situation, because before the full-scale invasion of Russia, more than half of them received their pensions in cash from postal workers.

Currently, collaborators completely block the issuance of pensions in postal offices.

“First, they stole 3 million hryvnias from the post office, and the day before yesterday (April 27 – Channel 24) they simply blocked the work of the office, which was trying to give cash to pensioners,” Fedorov added.
