At least 40,000 children still remain in the region. The representative of the Donetsk OVA Tatyana Ignatchenko told Channel 24 about this.
Mandatory evacuation from the Donetsk region began on 2 August. To date, more than 300 people have been evacuated.
Why people should leave
A representative of the Donetsk OVA explained that now there are two factors that put under threat to people's lives and health:
-
War – shelling does not subside, it will only intensify.
- Housing and communal situation– It will be a very hard winter, the region will be left without gas. After all, heavy fighting is now taking place where restoration work needs to be carried out.
“We are trying to convey this information to people,” she said.
According to Ignatchenko, the main advantage of mandatory evacuation is that people receive full escort. They are taken from settlements by bus, delivered to Pokrovsk, and from there by train to Kropyvnytskyi or Alexandria. All transfers are free. People are placed and provided with one-time financial assistance: UAH 3,000 for children and people with disabilities and UAH 2,000 for people without status.
People are fully provided with attention. Thus, both the government and we, as the UVA, are trying to debunk the myths that have long been established in the Donbass: “we are not expected anywhere”, “no money to go” and “nothing to live for”. We very much hope that even the category of people who do not want to leave will heed this call and make the right decision,” the press secretary of the Donetsk OVA summed up.
