Russians prevent the evacuation from the captured Popasnaya/collage 24 channel
The Ukrainian military strikes at enemy positions in the temporarily occupied territories. Civilians in the captured Popasna in the Lugansk region, in order not to interfere with the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, are asking the Russians to evacuate from the destroyed city. However, the occupiers are relentless.
The Russian military checks the phones of civilians
The head of the Popasnyansk State Administration Nikolai Khanatov said this on the air of the Rada channel, Channel 24 reports. In particular, he commented on the information that recently the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Popasna destroyed the enemy's ammunition depot.
Khanatov said that civilians in the captured Popasna were begging the Russians to be evacuated. However, the occupiers refuse to do so.
Due to the successful strikes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian invaders, as the head of the Popasnyanskaya VGA said, suspect local residents “of treason.” They say they are handing over the positions of the enemy to the Ukrainian forces.
Nikolay Khanatov said that the Russian military is checking the phones of civilians, and also closed the city at the entrance and exit.
He noted that in Popasna there are no surviving houses: everything is destroyed or damaged. In such conditions, 150 people still live, although before the start of the full-scale invasion, about 30 thousand people lived in the Popasnyanskaya community.
The Ukrainian side carried out the evacuation from Popasna from the end of February to the end of May, while there was an opportunity. After the Russians captured the city, this possibility disappeared.
What is the situation in the Lugansk region
- Russian invaders seized a significant part of the territory of the Lugansk region. At the end of June, the enemy established control over Severodonetsk, after which they also captured Lisichansk. It is known that the Ukrainian defenders were ordered to withdraw, since the Russians completely destroyed both cities.
- Despite this, Russia cannot reach the administrative borders of the Lugansk region, as the Kremlin wants. The head of the Luhansk regional military administration, Serhiy Gaidai, reported that the Russians were unsuccessfully trying to “squeeze” the Luhansk region.
- Serhiy Gaidai informed that the enemy was actively using aviation to oust the Ukrainian military. Instead, Ukrainian fighters hold the line and resist Russian attempts to set the stage for future offensives.
