by alex

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced the need to urgently help Ukraine with weapons. Despite the high level of this statement, the decision to transfer weapons in Ukraine is not made by him, but by key leaders of NATO countries.

About thisChannel 24said ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavel Klimkin. According to him, Olaf Scholz and Joe Biden recently agreed on a further strategy of action to help Ukraine. Klimkin, at the Ramstein meeting, which will be held on January 20, 2023, a new aid package from the United States will be announced, and the fact that on the eve of this, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzny met with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, General Mark Milli, means a very positive signal .

Klimkin also spoke about other meetings between officials on the eve of Ramstein.

There was Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte at Joe Biden’s and I know that they had a very cool discussion of Ukraine and what The Netherlands is supplying us with another Patriot battery – this is just the tip of the iceberg, the ex-minister said.

Pavlo Klimkin noted that the latest developments around Ukraine have a very positive trend and expressed hope that Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's visit to Beijing, which is scheduled for February 5-6, will also bring results.

According to the ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs Ukraine, China privately says that they are ready to work on options for a way out of this situation. At the same time, he noted that China could not say anything else, because Chinese foreign policy is traditionally politically correct.

Klimkin also said that for him the main story is Germany's decision to unblock the supply of tanks. According to him, it is to this decision that everything has been moving lately. At the same time, he understands the problems in Germany and notes that there are people who draw analogies with the Second World War, saying that Germany should not return to the logic of war.

According to the ex-minister, now the countries in which the Leopard tanks are in service are carefully calculating what can be delivered, in what quantities, when and how. And the fact that the United States is in no hurry to supply Abrams tanks, Klimkin explained by the high requirements for their maintenance. American Abrams tanks require a different level of maintenance. There are other engines and much more. For us Leopard, in the current situation, this is the best story, – said Pavel Klimkin.

He also recalled how Ukrainians rejoiced at the first decision to supply Patriot air defense systems, and now battery after battery is coming. The politician is also counting on “tank Ramstein” on Friday, and on the next meeting “rocket Ramstein”.

What to expect from Germany

Pavel Klimkin said that the new German defense minister will work closely with the chancellor, and further delay in the decision on tanks puts him in a very difficult, sad and pathetic situation.

The ex-minister believes that supplying tanks to Ukraine, or at least allowing other countries to do so, is the duty of Germany, since it is a fundamental violation of international law.

I believe that this is a duty Germany, in the end, right now to make a decision, when we see that it is critical for us, this is necessary both for further offensives and for protection against Russian offensives. – Pavel Klimkin said.

In addition to tanks, Ukraine also needs a long-range missile, but the situation here is still unknown. As for tanks, Klimkin is firmly convinced of positive decisions for us.
