“Packing up” journalists: why Russian security forces do not touch the wives of those mobilized at rallies

Saturday, February 3 , in Moscow, Russian mobilized women came out for weekly protests. It ended with a march to the election headquarters of Vladimir Putin and the detention of journalists.

Action of the “Way Home” movement on the 500th day from the beginning of the announcement of mobilization in Russia it came out on a larger scale than before. The mobilized women have become more confident in themselves and are now actively resisting the security forces. Olga Kurnosova, a Russian oppositionist and political analyst, told Channel more about this.

They are afraid to touch women

This is not the first protest organized by mobilized women. Now every Saturday they organize similar events. It is interesting that one of the participants in the action stated that the Russian authorities will not be able to do anything with those who participate in this action.

Probably she thinks that if their husbands are at the front with weapons in their hands, then they should not be touched, because suddenly they will go to Red Square with these weapons. This, apparently, is their confidence that they will not be treated cruelly,” noted Olga Kurnosova.

At the same time, the protests, of course, were not without arrests – Russian journalists who covered the protest of mobilized women were targeted. It is known that 27 journalists were detained. At the same time, Maria Andreeva, who is one of the leaders of the protest, stood in front of the paddy wagon and did not let it pass.

“She immediately stated that she had an understanding from the first day what is happening. Therefore, in a political sense, she is the most advanced in this group, having become an informal leader. But as we see, they are afraid to detain her. At least for now. Do not forget that the so-called election campaign of Vladimir Putin continues,” the analyst noted.

It is really not surprising that on the eve of the elections, which will take place on March 15 – 17, Russian security forces will not detain mobilized women. However, it cannot be ruled out that after Putin’s re-election they may resort to more drastic actions.

By the way, the mobilized women have already announced the next action for next Saturday, February 10.
