Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the liberated city of Izyum in the Kharkiv region. There he addressed the inhabitants of the occupied Crimea.
Zelensky said that our people live on the peninsula. He is sure that we will definitely liberate Crimea, channel 24 reports.
How Zelensky addressed the inhabitants of Crimea
The Ukrainian president noted that the residents of the temporarily occupied Crimea have been under pressure from Russian propaganda all these years, but when Ukraine returns to the peninsula, Crimeans will see the lies of Russian television and propaganda.
Because we know that the truth is on our side,โ the head of state emphasized.
He added that residents of all temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, including Crimea, should know that Ukraine will definitely return there, and with it a full life will return.
“We must send signals to our people, who so far “Unfortunately, they are under occupation. And my signal to the people in Crimea: we know that these are our people, and it is a terrible tragedy that they have been under occupation for more than eight years. We will return there.” But we have plans, and we will return there, because this is our land and our people,” Zelensky stressed.
When Ukraine can return Crimea
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are capable of pushing the Russians back to their positions as of February 23, and then returning the Crimea. However, this requires certain conditions to be met. The former commander of US forces in Europe, a veteran of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, retired Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, spoke about this in an interview with Channel 24.
Hodges said that the strikes on Crimea were extremely important, because they showed that the occupiers cannot defend their so-called “holy land”. And the Russians themselves do not want to defend it, since they began to run away from there headlong immediately after the first attack.
“Until the end of this year, Ukraine will be able to push the Russians back beyond the demarcation line until February 23, provided that we provide everything you need. And Crimea will be under Ukrainian control as early as next year,โ Hodges said.
He summed up that if all the previous conditions are not met, everything will drag on and the Kremlin will gain an advantage.
