Our artillery controls everything: will the Russians be able to encircle Bakhmut

by alex

The situation around Bakhmut remains perhaps the most difficult on the entire front of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The enemy is trying to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian forces in order to encircle the city.

Russian troops really do not leave attempts to cordon off Bakhmut, and in some areas they manage to advance. Oleksandr Demchenko, a journalist from Donbass.Realii, spoke about this on Channel 24 .

The threat of the cordon of Bakhmut

The interlocutor noted that the Russians recently entered Yagodnoye, which is northwest of Bakhmut. Thus, the enemy is trying to bypass the fortress city from two sides at once – from the south and from the north.

In the north they have great success. There are still ways of communication between Bakhmut and the free part of Ukraine, through which ammunition, food and everything else necessary can be transported,” says Oleksandr Demchenko.

Western media often write that the Ukrainian defenders will sooner or later have to leave the city because of the threat of a possible siege. However, it is still too early to talk about it.

“Neither one nor the other can be confirmed yet. After all, the cordon is given to the invaders at a very heavy price. It cannot be said that it will end in success,” the journalist emphasizes.

He explains that the enemy was able to advance only in those areas where the terrain allows it. But then there is Ukrainian artillery, which can hold this sector of the front.

The journalist of “Radio.Svoboda” also said that the goal of the occupiers is to capture the settlements of Khromovo and Ivanovskoye (the map can be seen in the video). This would allow them to cut off Bakhmut from the rest of the free Ukraine.

It is this area that is very well controlled by Ukrainian artillery. It is located on a hill. Therefore, they have already advanced where they could, but they can no longer go further, because they will be hit in the back and flanks at the same time. Alexander Demchenko explains.

Therefore, he notes that now it is definitely impossible to say that attempts to encircle Bakhmut will be successful for the Russians, given their forces and means, as well as their methods of warfare.

“The fighters and correspondents with whom we managed to talk understand that Bakhmut is very important – both from a military and political point of view. Using the example of Soledar, we saw how the Russians use this in their propaganda,” the journalist said.

They simply destroy some settlement with a barrage of fire, capture it, and then propaganda demonstrates the capture of “very important strategic lines.”
