Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban arrived in Kyiv on the morning of July 2 for an unannounced visit. This is his first trip to Ukraine after the start of a full-scale Russian war.
During a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, they agreed to work on an agreement that would eliminate bilateral problems.
According to Orban, the negotiations brought the two countries closer to the possible signing of a new agreement. He also said that Budapest is ready to support the modernization of the Ukrainian economy, and also intends to help Kyiv during its presidency of the EU Council.
Zelensky noted that they discussed the most fundamental issues with Orban, such as trade, cross-border cooperation, infrastructure, and energy issues. Orban also supported the project of opening a Ukrainian school in Hungary.
