Negotiations between Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin contrary to the treaties of the European Union.

This has been determined by the legal service of the European Union. Let us recall that the politicians met last week in Moscow.

Orban's trip contradicts EU treaties

According to the publication's diplomatic sources, the EU legal service on Wednesday, July 10, informed member states that Orbán's actions violated EU treaties, which prohibit any “measures that may jeopardize the achievement of the Union's goals.”

It is also noted that the head of the Hungarian government violated the provision that calls on all members to carry out foreign policy activities “unconditionally in a spirit of loyalty and mutual solidarity.”

At the same time, the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, in a comment to the Financial Times, called Orban’s trip to Moscow a “political mistake,” emphasizing that in 10 years of work in the European Union, “I have never seen such a harsh reaction from 26 other countries ” on the actions of one.

In particular, Michel stated that he had already met with Viktor Orban at the current NATO Summit in Washington. Now the head of the European Council is in contact with other EU leaders to decide how to proceed.

By the way, the Kremlin host kindly met Viktor Orban on July 5 in Moscow and immediately began the meeting mention of an ultimatum for Kyiv. Read about what statements were made, what they said about Ukraine and the main points of the conversation between politicians at the link.
