One of the Russian journalists reported that Yashin was detained when he walked in the park and sat on a bench. Oppositionist Yashin is a deputy of the Krasnoselsky municipal district of Russia. The detainee was taken to the Luzhniki police station.

Over time, it became known that the opposition Russian politician was accused of not being submissive to the police. He was allowed to meet with a lawyer.

Before that, an incident also happened to Yashin. He was fined 30,000 rubles, or $560, under the article on “discrediting the Russian army.” This happened after his publication of a 1969 photo of protests against the Vietnam War.

Ilya Yashin is an ally of another opposition figure, Alexei Navalny, who was imprisoned.

Detentions in Russia

  • Russia is not a free country where you can express your opinion and have the right to do so. The Putin regime monitors this and delays or persecutes. There are very few and even a meager number of brave people who are ready to defend freedom. At the beginning of the war, they still went out to rallies a little bit, but they were few in number, there were single pickets. Of course, everyone dispersed after the first arrests. For example, in mid-March, 628 people were detained in 35 cities during protests against the war with Ukraine in one day. At that time, at least 281 people were detained in Moscow, and 136 people in St. Petersburg.
  • As it turned out, not only people are being detained in Russia. It turns out that the Putin regime is afraid of even an ordinary bicycle. How exactly it can harm is unknown. It took two security officers at once to detain a poor and innocent vehicle. The bike must have resisted so much that it had to be carried. In addition to bicycles, people were also detained.
  • In Russia, lonely people standing with placards are also detained. They may not write about the war in Ukraine. There may not be a hint of condemnation or anything like that. For example, there was a case when the police detained a girl who was holding a banner with the commandment of God. The 6th commandment was written on it – do not kill. The girl stood in Moscow at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Why they were afraid of her is unknown and strange. After all, Russians love the propaganda of spiritual values. There have also been cases when Russian citizens have been prosecuted because of posters without words or just blank sheets of paper.
