Duda believes that only Ukraine can decide its future/Ukrinform
Some politicians in Europe are promoting the idea that Ukraine must concede part of its territory to Russia in order to end the war. Polish President Andrzej Duda said that only our state can decide what to do.
Duda noted that Europeans cannot decide anything behind Ukraine's back. He stated this during a speech before the Verkhovna Rada on May 22, Channel 24 reports.
No one but Ukraine can decide its future
Duda said that in Europe, unfortunately, voices of concern have recently appeared. Some politicians are demanding that Ukraine cede its territories to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
I want to be clear – only Ukraine has the right to decide its future. Only Ukraine should decide something about itself, – said the President of Poland.
He stressed that the world and the international community should demand that Russia end the aggression, completely leave the territory of Ukraine and stop violating international law.
“There can be no negotiations and decision-making behind Ukraine's back. Nothing about you without you. Absolutely. This is an iron principle. And it must be adhered to,” Duda said.
He noted that today it is not the Ukrainians, but the Western world that composes the exam, or its values mean something. If Ukraine, or at least a centimeter of its territories and a shred of its sovereignty, is sacrificed for world peace or political ambitions, this will be a huge blow not only for the Ukrainian people, but for the entire Western community.
“I don't have any here doubt.Time and your future will show that the foundations of the Western world, such values as solidarity and human rights, not only sound great, but in the face of harsh reality weigh little or weigh something. We cannot allow these words to be empty “, – added the Polish President.
Duda summed up that the West and the international community have a great responsibility to Ukraine and its people.
Note! Recently, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President Oleksiy Aresovich said that Russia sent many of its emissaries to Europe, who are now persistently working out the so-called “Italian plan” – that Ukraine must cede its territories so that this bloody war but ended. In particular, this thesis is promoted by Putin's longtime friend, former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
