On the night of February 27, the terrorist country attacked Khmelnitsky with Iranian kamikaze drones. During enemy shelling, two rescuers were killed, who were at the site of the fire after being hit by one of the UAVs.

With 21-year-old Vladislav Dvorak and 31-year-old Sergei Sevruk, they said goodbye in the city on February 28. It is known that Vladislav died at the site of the fire, and 31-year-old Sergei Sevruk – in the hospital.

What is known about the dead rescuers

Familiar rescuers describe them with warmth and pain. In particular, Andriy Kozak, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Khmelnytsky region, stressed that the death of men is a great loss for the rescue family of both Khmelnitsky and all of Ukraine.

The guys, not sparing their lives, saved other people. And the racist scum killed them. We will never forgive and take revenge,” he said.

So, colleagues remember Vladislav Dvorak as a man dedicated to his work. They note that few loved the service as much as he did. He has been working in the State Emergency Service since 2021 and was the commander of the fire department. He had a fiancee with whom he planned a wedding.

Vladislav's mother noted with grief that her son was her hope and support. “My son is hope and support. I miss and love,” she wrote on the social network.

Sergei Sevruk , who was a junior sergeant in the civil protection service, left behind his wife and two young daughters. And in just eight days he was supposed to be 32 years old.

His colleagues stressed that they would forever remember Sergei as a courageous and responsible rescuer.

He really wanted this job. He saved, but they didn’t save him, – said Sergey’s relatives near his coffin.

We saw off the last journey on my knees

Relatives and friends of the men, as well as many caring citizens, came to the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of the region to see them off and pay their respects to the rescuers. Among them were law enforcement officers, rescuers and National Guardsmen.

Near the photographs of men who, at the cost of their own lives, saved others, lay firefighters' equipment and many flowers. When the dead were carried along the streets of the city, they were escorted on their knees, to the sound of a fire siren.

It is known that Sergei Sevruk was buried in Derazhnya, and his colleague Vladislav Dvorak was buried in the Shepetovsky district of the city.
