The European Union has begun discussing a new package of sanctions against Russia, which they plan to approve by February 24, 2024. It could include additional trade restrictions and an end to Moscow's continued ability to circumvent sanctions through both third countries and companies in the EU.
This was reported by Bloomberg, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.

At the same time, discussions continue on the possible creation of a new fund for military support of Ukraine, which some EU countries want to use to update the funding mechanism from the European Peace Fund.
Now watching
The EU's foreign policy office proposed giving the fund an annual budget of about €5 billion, but failed to reach consensus among European Union member states.
According to the publication’s interlocutors, officials will soon present a new document with proposals to the EU member states.
