NABU and SAP exposed a criminal scheme to embezzle more than UAH 15 million from JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.

Theft scheme at Ukrzaliznytsia exposed
Anti-corruption agencies have reported suspicions against five people of embezzling more than UAH 15 million in the purchase of paint and linoleum for Ukrzaliznytsia.

In this case, suspicions have been reported:
- to the person whom the investigation considers to be the organizer of the crime;
- two representatives of supplier companies;
- former deputy of the branch of the Production Support Center of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia;
- manager – head of the department for providing materials for operational activities of the branch of the Central Control Center of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.
The actions of all suspects are qualified under Part 5 of Article 191 and Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
During the pre-trial investigation, it was revealed that in 2022, the organizer of the scheme, together with loyal employees of the Ukrzaliznytsia Production Support Center branch, ensured that the necessary companies won tenders.
If an outside company submitted a bid or offered a lower price, it was simply cancelled.
Subsequently, corresponding contracts were concluded between JSC Ukrzaliznytsia and the winning companies, and the cost of supplying paints and linoleum was significantly inflated.
The implementation of the scheme during September 2022 – April 2023 caused damage to Ukrzaliznytsia in the amount of more than UAH 15 million, which the participants in the crime took possession of and disposed of at their own discretion.
