On the border with the Russian Federation and Belarus: the Baltic countries are creating a common defense zone

by alex

On January 18-19, a meeting of the defense ministers of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia was held in Riga, at which a decision was made to create a common Baltic security zone on the eastern border with Russia and Belarus.

It will consist of various defense structures aimed at deterring aggression, and, if necessary, protecting against armed invasion.

This was reported on the website of the Estonian Ministry of Defense.

The agreement signed by Hanno Pevkur, Andris Spruds and Arvydas Anusauskas states that the structures will be placed “taking into account the results of the analysis of the enemy and the environment, as well as the combat plan of the defense forces” countries.

—The concept of defense structures is based on the decision of the Madrid NATO Summit that allies should be protected from the first meter of their territory and the approval of new regional defense plans, — indicated in the document.

We recall that last summer Poland, Lithuania and Latvia considered the possibility of closing their borders with Belarus in the event of provocations by Wagner terrorists.
