One of the rural territorial communities of Khmelnytsky opposed the renaming of Pushkinskaya and Oktyabrskaya streets, they say, the origin of these names is completely different.
The corresponding statement by Gukovsky Vadim Pozdnyakov, a public activist, chairman of the public organization “Rassvet”, co-founder of the projects Decommunization.Ukraine and Language.Kharkov, published on his Facebook page.
Pozdnyak was indignant at such a statement by the chairman of the village council, Pyotr Ilnitsky. “These are the village heads waiting for the kafirs,” commented the public figure.
In his statement, Ilnitsky said that Pushkin Street in the village of Puklyaki had been renamed Pushkinskaya Street. The difference in the meaning of these two names does not seem to be noticeable, however, Ilnitsky noted that this street was called Pushkinskaya, because in ancient times there were many guns there. The head of the village council probably does not use this word often, because he would know that all Ukrainians call this artillery weapon a cannon.
According to Ilnitsky, the name of the second Oktyabrskaya street has nothing to do with the Soviet Union. The locals named it so because many trees grow there, and in autumn they turn yellow. Probably, the October Revolution, organized by the Russians in October 1917, was also named because of the color of the leaves on the trees in autumn.
Recall the meaning of the term “decommunization”. This is the process of getting rid of everything Ukrainian from the consequences of communist ideology. It began even after the collapse of the USSR, but it underwent a significant scale during the Leninfall during the Euromaidan of 2014.
Vadim Pozdnyak's followers commented on this statement on Facebook:
- “This is even not funny”
- “The chairman can be removed from office for not knowing the state language. What guns, if guns?”
- “That's how in such situations to pretend that this is a mentally healthy position policies that should be responded to with respect?”
- “On the other hand, Gukov has a monument to Shukhevych. Such a contrast”
- “Philologists from the SBU should already deal with this head of the UTC. Because otherwise there will be nothing.”
Piotr Ilnitsky responded to the outrage of the community in the comments
“Dear commentators, I am sincerely grateful for your comments, and I want to inform you that in the territory of the community all the streets that were related to the communist regime have been renamed for a long time, and no one we were not expecting a war to rename them, in the period up to In 2022, more than 20 streets were renamed in all villages, some communities (cities) are still sharpening discussions in this direction and for show now, we knew that our enemy was katsapia and did not expect the start of the war .As for these two streets, a discussion was held among the residents of these villages, on the basis of which the deputies of the community left these names as historical for these territories, and it was precisely such arguments that people cited during the discussion, ”wrote Chairman Gukovsky with Council.
