Tanks during a counteroffensive are effective only in combination with other weapons. Military expert Pavel Narozhny said this forChannel 24.
“If we talk about directions, then, for example, let's take Melitopol or the Lugansk direction. To attack there, you need to form a strike group of four brigades in each of the directions,” the expert noted.

How tanks will work
According to Narozhny, strike groups should be supported by artillery and a separate tank brigade. To create a tank brigade, you need about 120 – 150 tanks.
That is, 300 tanks are 2 brigades. With these two brigades, if combined-arms brigades are free, we will be able to support the offensive in two directions. This is a subjective judgment, because it is not known whether we have these resources, because infantry is advancing, not tanks, Narozhny said.
He emphasized that the task of the tank is to support the infantry on the battlefield and the question rests on all other branches of the military. As Narozhny noted, before the tank advances, sappers must pass in order to free the territory from mines.
“A tank cannot move at random. It is part of an incredibly large mechanism that is an army. However, I repeat – 300 tanks make it possible to attack in several directions at the same time,” the military expert added.
Russians intensified shelling
The invaders are trying to break through to Ugledar. The speaker of the Eastern Group, Sergei Cherevaty, spoke about 300 shelling, dozens of assaults. Narozhny noted that this is very intense, because they talk about tens of thousands of artillery shots per day.
“The Russians fired 5-6 thousand rounds along the entire line of collision for about 2 months. Thus “We have accumulated artillery ammunition. However, we now have the opportunity to carry out counter-battery combat. Each shot is an opportunity to identify the attacking artillery installation. There is a chance to destroy them. I know for sure that our military successfully hunt them,” Narozhny said.
