The fact that a new offensive against Ukraine is probably being prepared from the territory of Belarus has been reported from various sources for more than one day. It testifies to such preparation and constant collection of Russian forces and equipment on the territory of this northern neighbor.
Yes, now there are more than 10 thousand military of the terrorist country on the territory of the republic. However, the head of the State Border Service, Sergei Deineko, spoke about whether such “allied troops” are capable of attacking from the North today, Channel 24 reports.
What is happening today in Belarus
According to Sergei Deineko, both at the beginning of a full-scale invasion, and today, Belarus provides all the assistance to the aggressor state that Putin demands. We are talking about infrastructure, airspace and military training bases. So, of course, it can provide assistance at any moment by facilitating a second attack on the territory of Ukraine.
However, there are enough intelligence agencies in Ukraine that monitor the entire situation in Belarus on a daily basis, and so far they have not recorded the creation of offensive groups on its territory.
We see that the territory of Belarus is now being used for combat coordination of units of the Russian occupation forces. Of course, the enemy should not be underestimated. Of course, there is a threat, but I can’t say that it is now real and critical,” the head of the GNSU stressed.
Kremlin plans
As Sergei Deineko noted, the total number of Russian occupation troops in Belarus is between 10,200 and 10,500 servicemen. And today they are located mainly at the training grounds in the Vitebsk region, located at a sufficient distance from the state border with Ukraine.
Moreover, according to the GNSU, the Kremlin plans to use part of these Russian troops in another direction, namely, to transfer them to the combat zone in the Donetsk region in the next two weeks. And they will be replaced by part of the military personnel from the 3rd Army Corps of the 6th Motorized Rifle Division of the Russian Armed Forces.
Judging by all these data, according to Sergei Deineko, in January, the troops of Russia and Belarus are unlikely to be able to carry out a second full-scale attack on the territory of Ukraine from the North.
You can try to repeat this offensive, but I am sure that it will not be successful. If they are ready for the second defeat, you can start it tomorrow, for example. But they do not have sufficient forces for this, – said the head of the State Border Service.
