Russia launched a full-scale offensive in the Lugansk region. Active hostilities are moving in three directions.
The head of the Lugansk OVA, Serhiy Gaidai, told Belsat that the most active battles were taking place near Belogorovka, in the direction of Svatovo – Kupyansk and in the Kremennaya area, writes Channel 24 .
Gaidai announced the escalation in the Luhansk region
According to him, an increase in the number of attacks on the positions of the Defense Forces and settlements liberated from the Russians is recorded. The invaders are also making attempts to storm the positions of the Defense Forces.
Gaidai reported that the Russians were trying to storm with infantry or infantry supported by heavy equipment.
We can say that we have started a decent escalation over the past few weeks. – stated the head of the Lugansk OVA.
Gaidai is convinced that Russia is unlikely to throw hundreds of tanks and thousands of soldiers into battle. He stressed that a full-scale Russian offensive is already underway.
“How does this manifest itself? A large amount of heavy equipment has already been brought to the temporarily occupied territories of the Luhansk region. Secondly, many have brought newly mobilized soldiers from Russia, who were taken away from peaceful life for several months and dressed in uniform,” he said and emphasized the poor training of the occupiers.
Gaidai said that the Russians bring a lot of ammunition. Also, recently it has been observed that the Russians very often go on the offensive in different directions and with different composition.
He noted that the invaders are trying to identify weaknesses in the defense of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The occupiers have sharply increased the number of attacks
- The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on the morning of February 27 that Russia is now concentrating its main efforts on conducting offensive operations in the Kupyansky, Limansky, Bakhmutsky, Avdeevsky and Mining directions.
- Over the past 24 hours alone, our defenders repelled 81 invaders' attacks in these directions.
- Aleksey Gromov, head of the main department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, informed that the strategic goal of Russia is to capture key settlements of the Donetsk region in the near future. As Gromov said, by the summer of this year, the invaders want to capture the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
- Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, also said that Russia seeks to occupy the entire Donetsk region by the end of March. However, the invaders repeatedly set a deadline for the occupation of the Donetsk region, but each time they failed it.
