Citizens of Mariupol, who wanted to leave the occupied city, were forced to write on cars the inscription “children “, hoping that this will save their families from enemy shelling. However, this did not stop the Russians.

Natalia Gaetska spoke about this within the framework of the SVOI project on 24 channel. She managed to leave Mariupol with five cats and find temporary shelter in Lvov.

Russians fired at cars with “children” signs

Natalya Gaetskaya said that on the day of departure from the occupied Mariupol it was very difficult. People leaving the hot spots did not know what to think of so that they would not be shot on the way – they tied white rags to the car, wrote some inscriptions, etc.

“I was black almost all night with nail polish that she found at a colleague’s house, she drew the inscription “children” on paper. Because she didn’t find anything else,” the woman recalls.

However, later it became obvious that the Russian military was indifferent to any inscriptions and signs .

If they wished, they simply shot. And that's why those who left were lucky, – Natalya noticed.

On the road, the woman, along with her five cats, spent more than a day. Note that it was possible to call in peaceful from Mariupol to Zaporozhye in a few hours. However, for Natalia, this path seemed like an eternity.

“As it seemed to us, there were Russian checkpoints at every step. My companion did not even immediately understand that they were all Russians. We did not even know that the Russians took this fashion for themselves wear white ribbons,” the woman added.

Natalya summed up that she guessed that there were occupiers at the checkpoints only because she managed to hear about the letters Z, V and O.
