Nuclear threat, mobilization in Russia and exchange of prisoners: an exclusive conversation with Mikhail Podolyak

Russia is convulsing because it has no success in the war against Ukraine. Dictator Putin is looking for various ways to somehow continue the war and maintain the illusion of a great and strong state.

That is why mobilization is being used, the probable declaration of martial law, the use of prohibited weapons and the threat of a nuclear strike on Ukraine. Adviser to the Head of the Office of the President Mikhail Podolyak spoke exclusively about this and another Channel 24.

On September 24, it became known that the Russian invaders, using a drone, dropped containers with a poisonous substance onto the combat positions of the Ukrainian military. OK Yug reported that it was probably a K-51 chloropicrin grenade. Fortunately, the combat medics worked well, so there are no losses or critical conditions among our military.

Mikhail Podolyak noted that such a cynical step on the part of the Russians did not come as a surprise, because everyone knows and understands that the country the aggressor uses almost all types of weapons prohibited by various conventions, including phosphorus and cluster bombs.

We have no doubt that they will try to use even small doses of so-called weapons of mass destruction, including chemical weapons, – added he.

The adviser to the head of the Presidential Office emphasized that all such cases are documented as war crimes, after which the necessary legal procedures will be carried out.

Russia, led by its dictator Putin, continues to threaten Ukraine and the world with nuclear weapons. According to Podolyak, the West should respond to this not only with loud statements, but also with actions in line with international protocols. But the world still considers Russia a powerful state and tries to treat it very carefully. Although, in fact, it is a nuclear state that threatens a non-nuclear state with weapons of mass destruction, which is prohibited by any conventions.

Thus, according to the relevant protocols, the international community must already take into the air a certain number of aircraft that would track everything, what is happening with nuclear facilities in russia.

In addition, a note should be sent to the terrorist state stating that as soon as it becomes clear that Russia is preparing to use something from the nuclear triad to strike at Ukraine, then symmetrical retaliatory strikes will be delivered.< /p>

Podolyak is convinced that by announcing partial mobilization in Russia, as well as the likely imposition of martial law and the closure of borders for men, Putin is almost direct speech telling his citizens that he is losing the war. After all, he actually admits that the entire contract army of Russia, which was supposed to “take Ukraine in 3 days”, was destroyed, and now we need to hysterically look for at least some resources.

And besides the shame that their “second army of the world” could not carry out this “several-day operation” even in 7 months, the Russians got a lot of problems. If, even before the full-scale invasion, Russians traveled the world, traveled and earned money, now they are forced to remain in Russia without money and a normal attitude from the international community, and in addition, they also have the prospect of being mobilized and dying in Ukraine.

The Russians staged mobilization not only in their own territories, but also in the occupied ones, including in the Crimea. Podolyak explained that those who were forcibly mobilized in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine may not participate in the war. To do this, they need to surrender to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and after that they will be protected by international law.

Especially if it can be made part of – it was generally would be great. They can, according to the convention, refuse the exchange and stay until the end of the war in Ukraine,โ€ Podolyak explained.

September 21 Ukraine returned 215 of its defenders from Russian captivity, including 108 defenders of Mariupol. The adviser to the head of the Presidential Office confirmed that the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich took part in the negotiation process on this exchange.

According to Podolyak, the billionaire was an intermediary-moderatornegotiations and in some way helped the parties to have an objective conversation. However, it is impossible to specify his role, since the negotiation process for the exchange of other prisoners is still ongoing. Therefore, the details should not be disclosed.

“You see that by the time of the exchange, we managed to make sure that there was not a word about this negotiation process. Therefore, it could be brought to the final,” Podolyak said .

Invaders use drones received from Iran in the war against Ukraine. According to Podolyak, the Russians do not know how to fight, and therefore they are looking for at least some technological solutions in order not to look like they look now – people from some barbaric century.

Advisor to the head of the President's Office believes that the transfer of drones to Russia will have big consequences for Iran. But it all depends on how the West will react – only with words or retaliatory actions and increased sanctions pressure.

If the West takes this path hard enough, then we will get certain the impossibility of transferring other equipment to Russia from other countries,โ€ he believes.

If the reaction of the world is again only in words, then the war of Russia against Ukraine will continue longer, because the aggressor can spend people on it, and with the help disgraceful countries like Iran to provide for their troops.
