Now they are hesitating, a military observer suggested when mobilization in Russia is possible

The Russian army suffered huge losses in the battles for Avdeevka and in other directions of the front. That is why the issue of mobilization is becoming relevant in Russia, a new wave of which is necessary for the Kremlin.

Military observer Denis Popovich told 24 Channelthat at the same time the Russian authorities have concerns regarding mobilization. It may cause an expansion of protests by the wives of Russian mobilized women, who demand the return of their husbands home.

They can mobilize 400 thousand

Now the Kremlin has thrown all its energy into the election campaign, and Vladimir Putin is making efforts to ensure that it does not pass without problems.

Wives and mothers of military personnel are holding protests in Russia, demanding that the authorities demobilize their husbands and sons. The Kremlin suggests that this could lead to outrage within Russian society. Therefore, now they are slow and delaying the mobilization process,” explained the military observer.

However, after the presidential elections (voting in Russia should take place on March 15-17, 2024 – Channel 24), mobilization is highly likely. Putin, who will certainly “win” the elections, according to the military observer, can announce it. According to forecasts, 400 thousand invaders can be mobilized in Russia, who will then be sent to the front, and this will affect the offensive potential of the Russians.

However, talk about riots in the Russian army due to large It’s too early for casualties among the occupiers. Russia offers good conditions for those mobilized. In Moscow, St. Petersburg and other large cities there live more or less wealthy Russians who are not “attracted” by these conditions. However, in the outback of Russia, in particular Tuva, Yakutia and other remote regions, people do not have work, and their only opportunity to earn money is to go to the front.

In this way, Russians are trying to cover their expenses, and the Russian authorities are using money to introduce them to the Russian army,” Popovich noted.

Also in Russia, the issue of demobilization is very acute, military wives and mothers insist. On the one hand, the military needs to be changed, and demobilization is needed. However, on the other hand, it is impossible to demobilize, because there is a war and the Russian army needs military personnel who have experience, skills, and appropriate training.

“The discussion continues about the fact that demobilization can to a certain extent damage the Russian army,” Denis Popovich emphasized.

Mobilization in Russia: what is happening

  • The Kremlin decided to promote a new bill to raise the age of those who want to serve in the Russian army under contract. Thus, in accordance with it, the age of contract soldiers can be raised to 65 years, and officers – to 70 years. The changes will also affect those with a contract signed before June 2023.
  • If passed, this bill would significantly raise the current age limit of 51 for non-officer personnel. and the duration of the contract may also increase. In fact, this will mean that the military will serve in the army for life (the average life expectancy of men in Russia is 64.2 years).
  • Previously, Putin signed a decree on increasing the size of the Russian army . There should be 2,209,130 fighters in its ranks. We are talking about 1,320,000 military personnel, which is 170 thousand more than before. The Russian Ministry of Defense explained such changes allegedly by the “increase in threats” associated with the war against Ukraine and “NATO expansion.”
