Now only the initial phase, – political scientist on why there is neither betrayal nor victory in the negotiations

A new round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia took place in Turkey/Office

Turkey hosted a new round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. So far, there are no specific agreements between the parties, because only the initial phase is underway.

This was stated by political scientist Vladimir Fesenko on the air of Channel 24. From Ukraine there is a proposal for international security guarantees and certain compromise options, but we still do not know how the Russian side will react to this.

According to Fesenko, first of all, we need to wait for Vladimir Putin's reaction. Then we will understand how the negotiation process will move forward.

From the point of view of the general framework of the negotiations, it should be understood that now is only the initial phase, I emphasize – the initial phase.

Russia is not ready for real agreements

History shows that the parties agree to actually sign any peace agreements under two conditions. First, one side wins, so the other is forced to sign an agreement, directly or indirectly, to surrender.

We are not going to capitulate, and the Russians are still on our territory, so this option is excluded, the political scientist emphasized.

The second condition is when both sides are already exhausted by the war and understand that its continuation will have negative consequences for them , so they are going to real negotiations.

“So far, it seems to me, Russia is not ready to make real agreements. At the same time, Ukraine is not going to capitulate,” the political scientist said.

Please note Attention! According to the Office of the President, on the evening of March 29, another round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia will take place in Turkey.

According to Fesenko, now the Russians have already become more accommodating, they do not put forward unconditional ultimatums to Ukraine and are ready to discuss our proposals. This is because the Ukrainian army and society provide very effective resistance, so the Russians understand that they will not be able to win just like that.
