Musienko told what stage the lend-lease for Ukraine is at/Collage 24 channel
There are rumors that the US is dragging its feet on deliveries of weapons to Ukraine under Lend-Lease, and the program will start working only from the new fiscal year, that is, from October. However, this information is not accurate.
Alexander Musienko, head of the Center for Military Legal Research, told Channel 24 about this. He noted that the adopted document, which is freely available on the Congress website, clearly indicates 2 fiscal years – 2022 and 2023.
Land -liz will definitely work
That is, weapons will go to Ukraine before October. So far, we are receiving assistance within the allocated $40 billion, and part of it goes to finance the purchase of weapons, which Ukraine is already receiving. The first package amounted to 700 million dollars, and the next, as announced by the head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin, will be at least 1.5 billion dollars.
The lend-lease program, according to Musienko, is now at the stage of agreeing on the necessary issues – how to launch the defense industry, how much they are ready to do it, what funding is needed and how quickly it can be implemented.
I think this has been a question for a while. We would like it to happen as soon as possible, but Lend-Lease must work without fail, – Alexander Musienko shared.
The head of the Center for Military Legal Research does not believe that lend-lease will be blocked or that it will not work. Musienko suggests that now everything is in the stage of preparatory procedures. Moreover, some events indicate that the “sprouts” of this program in support of Ukraine in the war against Russia have already been formed.
“President Biden visited a Javelin missile factory in one of the states. He called for an increase production, because there is a great need. And so on for each program,” Musiyenko explained.
What kind of weapons Ukraine needs now
Recall, adviser to the head of the President's Office Mykhailo Podolyak published a specific list military equipment and weapons that Ukraine needs to defeat Russia. We are talking about thousands of weapons, namely:
- 1000 155-caliber howitzers,
- 300 multiple launch rocket systems,
- 500 tanks,
- 2000 armored vehicles,
- 1000 drones.
First of all, this list is addressed to the ministers of defense of different countries who will take part in the meeting” Ramstein-3″ June 15 in Brussels. Issues of defense support for Ukraine will be discussed there.
