A dam has burst between the 10th and 11th locks of the White Sea-Baltic Canal in Karelia. The head of the region, Artur Parfenchikov, reported that the water washed away the dam installed during the reconstruction.

The water entered the village where the lock maintenance personnel and their families live, and washed away three nearby houses.

As one of the Russian Telegram channels notes, the flow of water actually destroyed the dam, which was 8 meters high and 10 meters wide. It was built temporarily, as an insurance during the repair of dam No. 23.
A state of emergency was declared in the Segezhsky district, and an evacuation began.
