Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who is known for his scandalous statements about Ukraine, laughed at the gathering of Slovaks at ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and ridiculed such an initiative of his people.

He used the phrase “prd do Stromovky”, which means “farting in Stromovka”, when he commented on the funds collected by the Slovaks for Ukraine. If you explain this in Ukrainian, it means “a drop in the bucket.”

Robert Fico said that there are no obstacles for people in how they spend their own money. However, he noted that the United States approved 60 billion dollars in aid to Ukraine, the European Union also approved tens of billions of euros, therefore, according to him, such an initiative by the Slovaks supposedly makes no sense.

Nothing will change in Ukraine, and in a year or two it will be the same. All the money will be spent, perhaps some will be stolen, but nothing will change in Ukraine, and we will be where we are,” he said cynically.

The Prime Minister of Slovakia convinces that in the country it is better to collect money for cancer patients than for bullets and bombs. He believes that the above-mentioned collection is only an effort to make “some kind of counterbalance to the government,” since the Slovak authorities do not support the provision of military assistance to our state.

Fico also added that they are helping Ukraine, recalling several agreements in the economic and humanitarian spheres between Slovakia and Ukraine.

Slovaks like this I didn’t like the Prime Minister’s reaction

Prime Minister Fico insulted all supporters of the initiative, especially 99-year-old Otto Simka. At the same time, we perceive this as a poisonous message to the Czech side, which is even worse, since Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Defense Minister Jana Cernochová have expressed strong and clear support for the initiative, say the organizers of the initiative.

They stated that the main goal was the symbolic accession of Slovakia to the Czech initiative, which was achieved. According to the organizers, they showed that Slovakia is neither cowardly nor ungrateful, and if not the government, then civil society can make it clear that it knows where the north is.

Collected almost 4 million euros

According to data published on the website of the Ammunition for Ukraine initiative, in Slovakia the only caring citizens within 12 days, they collected 3.9 million euros for military assistance to Ukraine.

At first, activists planned to collect 250 thousand euros and join the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Kyiv, despite the decision of the government of Robert Fico not to provide military assistance to our state. Subsequently, the figure grew to a million euros.

However, they managed to collect even more. It is known that as of now the number of those who helped our country has reached more than 60 thousand people. This fundraising started on April 16.
