The IAEA mission is ready to start checking the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, but the Russians are trying in every possible way to prevent this. Thus, the delegates have not yet entered the territory of the station.
There is one way out of the situation at the ZNPP
The occupiers did not provide them with a special pass and force those who want to get into Energodar from the territory controlled by Ukraine to stand in a general queue. the Russian side artificially creates the following obstacles. Channel 24 was told by Russian human rights activist Mark Feygin.
He believes that the mission will still reach the ZNPP, but doubts the result of their verification.
I don't think they will achieve anything, Feygin is convinced.
He explained that there is one solution to the problem – for Russia to withdraw its troops from the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. At the same time, the shelling that creates danger will also stop. But the Kremlin will not agree to this.
“This is logical. If you are not together with ammunition, military personnel, military equipment on the territory of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, then no one is shelling it, and accordingly there is no threat of any detonation or hitting power units,” the Russian human rights activist added.
But, of course, Moscow will not agree to this, because it is interested in energy, and in “planting a flag”, and in the blackmail tool that the Russians have in the hands of the Zaporizhzhya NPP. After all, in this way they can insist on the idea of negotiations, a ceasefire and a truce under the guise of a threat of falling into the power unit.
But the Ukrainian side's response to this blackmail is logical and understandable – withdraw the troops from the territory of the station, and the danger of a nuclear accident will disappear.
Will the IAEA mission achieve anything
Feigin believes that in fact it is not so important now to recognize who is shooting, like why this situation actually happened.
So far, I don’t really see that in this IAEA mission there could be at least some local success regarding an agreement with Russia, because any such mission cannot deny the loud, pivotal question – who attacked whom? – he explained.
Therefore, first of all, the IAEA report should indicate that Russia is the aggressor, it attacked Ukraine. Without this conclusion, everything else loses its meaning.
Thus, there is only one reason for the threat – Russia attacked Ukraine, illegally occupied the station and also placed military personnel, ammunition and equipment there. And, above all, the IAEA report should state exactly this. Without it, everything else loses its meaning.
After that, it becomes clear that there is also only one solution to the problem – the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of the station.
“And if there are no Russian troops, weapons, ammunition located at the station, if then something arrives, then it will be possible to sort it out mutually – who launched and fired,” the human rights activist believes.
