Nothing threatens arms supplies accepted earlier – Markarova on accepting temporary financing in the USA

After the adoption of a temporary budget resolution in the United States, which does not provide funding for Ukraine, Kiev will continue to work with partners to confirm assistance. Now nothing threatens the supplies accepted earlier.

This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova.

She recalled that the temporary budget resolution was adopted only for 45 days. According to Markarova, Congress and the Administration made sure that funds from the previous budget for assistance programs to Ukraine were transitional.

— There are funds. The government will work, so nothing threatens the supply of weapons and equipment that was accepted earlier. We now have a minimum of an additional $1.6 billion in Defense Assistance (PDA) + $1.23 billion in Direct Budget Assistance available to use (that's the September tranche that just landed in the World Bank accounts), plus significant amounts for energy and other programs, & #8212; noted the diplomat.

Markarova believes that after the completion of 45 days a new decision will be required.

The Ambassador emphasized that there is time, resources, and most importantly — there is bipartisan and bicameral support for Ukraine, which makes it possible to work to reaffirm American assistance to the Ukrainian struggle.

— And my large number of conversations today both with the Ukrainian caucus and with other leaders in Congress in both houses gives reason to believe that even before these 45 days are over, we will be discussing specific solutions for Ukraine, — she added.

On the evening of September 30, both houses of Congress passed a resolution on temporary government funding, which does not include assistance to Ukraine.

US President Joe Biden signed the corresponding draft, but emphasized the need to continue support Ukraine.
