A powerful hurricane caused disasters in Michigan – terrible photos/Jason H on twitter
On Friday, May 20, a powerful tornado passed through Michigan (USA). The storm claimed the lives of 2 people. Another 44 were injured.
The two dead were in the Nottingham Forest mobile home park, according to Michigan State Police. The victims were over 70 years old.
A total of 44 people were injured. 43 of them were taken to hospitals. The upstate city of Gaylord was hit the hardest.
A state of emergency has been declared in the city
Photos from the scene show trash-littered streets, businesses with roofs and walls torn off, as well as overturned cars. The roads were blocked by fallen trees and power lines. Immediately after the incident, the city declared a state of emergency and announced a curfew until 8 am on May 21.

Such bad weather shocked all the citizens of Gaylord, where a heavy hurricane swept through the center of the city. No North Michigan tornadoes are very rare. In the state itself, up to 15 tornadoes are usually recorded per year.
On May 20, a tornado swept through Germany:
- The strongest tornado swept through the German city of Paderborn on May 20 . About 40 people were injured.
- After the tornado, local law enforcement officers urged people not to leave their homes so that there were no more victims. It was also necessary so that nothing interfered with the work of the rescuers.
- Unfortunately, there were deaths – a couple of Frenchmen died at the age of 59. They were paragliding, but did not have time to land after a warning about a sharp change in the weather. The air vehicle fell into the field from a height of about 40 meters. The couple died on the spot before the arrival of the doctors.
Pay attention! On May 21, a hurricane is approaching the West of Ukraine, namely the Lviv and Rivne regions, which on May 20 caused disasters in Germany. People are asked to be careful, in particular, to refrain from walking in parks and, if possible, park cars as far away from trees as possible.
