Despite the attempts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to liberate Kherson, it is not of major strategic importance for the Russian occupiers in the South of Ukraine. Key communications of the enemy in the region pass through the temporarily occupied Sea of Azov.

The expert noted that the city is the “key” for solving many problems of Ukraine in the war.
If we succeed in liberating Melitopol and returning it, then many routes will immediately open there both to the Crimea, and to Mariupol and Berdyansk. Because Melitopol is a key point that actually controls the logistics in the southern direction, – the observer explained.
In his opinion, the Armed Forces of Ukraine should direct their activities on the Zaporozhye front precisely to the de-occupation of the city, and then deal with other areas.< /p>
“We don't know what the plan of the military command is today, but, hypothetically, Melitopol is point number 1,” Popovich summed up.
