“Not for peace, but for war”: why the UN Secretary General unexpectedly went to Russia Petro Sineoky

The trip of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is a truly strange event. He should have realized the full threat from Russia and its allies.

The head of the Center for Public Analysis “Vezha” Valery Klochok told Channel 24 about this, noting that Guterres' visit to Russia is a shameful event. There is no justification for why he would go to an aggressor country.

Guterres tolerates war

As Klochok noted, the UN Charter clearly states that the organization must prevent wars in the world. But Guterres is going to the BRICS summit, some of whose participants are already waging war or are actively preparing for it. In this context, it is worth remembering China's military exercises near Taiwan.

In this way, Guterres legitimizes military actions and war crimes by BRICS countries. I will not speak for the entire organization. Let Guterres say that the UN is now an organization not for peace, but for war. Then everything will become clear, – said Klochok.

Unfortunately, the UN is currently in a deep crisis. What effective solutions can we talk about if both Russia and China are on the Security Council. It would be good if at least discussions began at the UN regarding the inappropriateness of Guterres' visit to Russia. But this is not the case yet.

It is interesting that Guterres did not go to the Global Peace Summit that Ukraine organized in June 2024. And the UN Secretary General's team justifies its visit to Russia by saying that this is “standard practice” and that his position on the war in Ukraine remains unchanged.
