“In my opinion, we need ground attack aircraft. F16 and similar platforms are not ground attack aircraft. Ground attack aircraft, in the USA, these are, first of all, A-10, Thunderbolt II aircraft. It is also army aviation, but these are attack helicopters of the AN type -64 and so on. These are air platforms designed to strike on the ground,” Budanov said.
The head of the GUR stressed that this is his subjective vision. That is, the president and his entourage insist on the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, because they see a different concept.
