Discussions continue in the United States on further assistance to Ukraine. With the military component everything is fine, but with the financial component there are questions.

Valery Klochok, head of the Tower Center for Public Analytics, told Channel 24 about this, noting that preparations for the presidential elections, which will be held in 2024, are gradually unfolding in the United States.

Both Democrats and Republicans have the ability to “attack” each other to steal voters. But a year before the vote, no one will pull out all their trump cards.

Democrats now have a better opportunity to capture voters' attention. They are in power, so they have another year to demonstrate their effectiveness. But there, most likely, they will not go so far as to prevent Republican Donald Trump from participating in the elections.

I doubt that the US judicial system will not allow Trump to participate in the election. There have already been many criticisms of the Democrats. What if there are lawsuits against Trump, it will be the use of administrative resources to prevent an equal candidate from participating in the elections. “They’ll let him in,” said Klochok.

However, court cases that drag on long enough will spoil the image of Donald Trump.

What is the situation with assistance for Ukraine?

According to Klochok, discussions in the United States about assistance to Ukraine do not focus on the military component. Everyone understands that they can’t do without her. There are questions regarding the financial component.

There were statements that Ukraine may not receive 12 billion in additional funding needed for the state budget. This is a problem, but I think it will be solved. It is this money that leads to discussions between Republicans and Democrats. Republicans insist not on providing financial assistance, but on military assistance. We follow all events. Personally, I have no pessimistic forecasts about Biden’s victory and the allocation of military assistance to Ukraine,” Klochok said.

Help to Ukraine from the United States: briefly

• The United States has not yet adopted a budget for 2024 due to various controversial issues. The House of Representatives has now approved new stopgap funding for the government. There is no money for Ukraine yet.
• US President Joe Biden still insists that assistance to Ukraine be accepted. The House will consider his request for a combined package with help from Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan and a fortified border with Mexico after November 23.
