Norway will transfer $600 million to Ukraine: most of the funds will go to strengthening air defense

The Norwegian Parliament voted to allocate 7 billion Norwegian kroner ($600 million) for military aid to Ukraine.

Most of these funds, namely 6 billion crowns, will be used to supply our state with air defense equipment.

The Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, announced this on April 30, VG reports.

According to him, the total amount of Norwegian assistance to Kyiv in 2024 will reach 22 billion kroner in direct support.

President Vladimir Zelensky thanked the Norwegian allies for increasing financial assistance to Ukraine in 2024.

—It is very important that the majority of these funds will be used to strengthen Ukraine's air defense, which is our highest priority to protect people's lives.

We appreciate Norway's continued support, understanding of our immediate needs and willingness to be with us at a crucial time, — wrote the head of state in his X.

Air defense for Ukraine

Following the results of the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council on April 19, the participants agreed on an increase in military assistance to Kyiv, in particular, the provision of additional air defense systems.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke about this.

Members of the North Atlantic bloc have compiled a list of available resources and among them there are systems that can be provided to Ukraine.
