The first Russian anti-aircraft missile systems Pantsir-S1 appeared in the capital of North Korea, Pyongyang. Russia also transferred to the DPRK technologies and equipment for the production of attack drones. This was reported by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov.
Russia transfers drone production technology and weapons to North Korea
– This Shahed is like some kind of nomad. Here he came from Iran to the Russian Federation, and now from the Russian Federation, under the name of not Shahed, he came to the DPRK. They work quickly, believe me, unfortunately… They do a technology transfer from the Russian Federation to the DPRK. They do not transfer Shaheds, but technologies, equipment, and so on. They set up production there, – Budanov said.
According to him, the transfer of technology for the production of attack drones has already taken place.
Budanov stressed that the launch of production of attack drones in North Korea will lead to a significant deterioration in the security situation on the Korean Peninsula.
Now watching
— Because the DPRK is now significantly increasing its military power. First of all, due to direct cooperation with the Russian Federation and due to the real combat experience its soldiers are gaining. And this cannot but affect security, because ultimately the DPRK has only one enemy. The real enemy is South Korea. There are no others. And they know this very well, — the head of the GUR noted.
Russia has also transferred Pantsir-S1 systems to North Korea and is training North Korean military personnel in their use.
— The first Pantsir-S1 units have already appeared in Pyongyang. They are already on combat duty there, guarding their capital. And the Russians are retraining the Korean personnel. Soon the Koreans will be able to operate this equipment autonomously, — Budanov said.
There are 12 thousand DPRK troops in Russia
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate also predicts a significant increase in the number of North Korean citizens on Russian territory in the near future.
A certain number of DPRK citizens will sign contracts with the Russian army. At the same time, they will look like real volunteers.
According to Budanov, the number of North Korean troops already in the Russian Federation is 12,000 soldiers and is maintained at a roughly constant level.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate noted that Chinese citizens are also participating in military operations on the side of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
“They need combat experience, that's all clear. Just like the DPRK, by the way. That was one of the main reasons. Lack of real experience. Now they're all getting it,” he explained.
According to South Korean intelligence, North Korea may deploy additional troops to Russia to fight in the war against Ukraine as early as July or August. Pyongyang also continues to supply weapons to Russia.
