by alex

There are signs that North Korea will send more troops to help Russia before the summer.

The head of the Estonian Defense Forces Intelligence Center, Colonel Ants Kiviselg, announced this at a briefing, ERR writes.

He noted that several thousand North Korean troops, mainly fighting in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, have already been killed or wounded.

The situation in the Kursk region

As the Estonian intelligence officer noted, Russian troops have not yet been able to push Ukrainian forces out of the Kursk region, and our military still holds about half of the territory that they initially took under control.

– Fighting continues in the vicinity of this territory, where Russian troops have not made significant progress, – he reported.

In addition, Kiviselg reported that Ukraine still holds the largest settlement in the Kursk region and an important logistics center — Suju.

According to the Estonian intelligence officer, if North Korea's goal is to maintain its presence in the combat zone, it will have to start rotating its troops.

– And this week, there were reports that North Korea plans to send a new batch of troops before the summer. It is not known what their exact purpose will be, whether it will be the introduction of new units in full force, or to replace losses in units already fighting. Only time will tell, – noted Kiviselg.

Situation on the front

Ants Kiviselg also analyzed the fighting on the front and noted that over the past week the situation has not changed much, and the most brutal battles are being recorded in the Donetsk region, in particular near Toretsk, Pokrovsk and Bolshaya Novosyolka.

Kiviselg noted that Russian troops are making a tactical advance along the entire front.

— The most critical situation is currently in Toretsk and Bolshaya Novosyolka, — he said.

Recall that earlier British intelligence reported that as of January 2025 the DPRK's losses in Kursk amount to about 4 thousand soldiers.
