North Korea Executes Dozens of Officials After Devastating Floods – Media

More than a thousand people died in the flood.

North Korea has executed about 30 officials because they were “unable” to cope with the consequences of the devastating flood in late July, which left more than a thousand dead or missing people.

This was reported by the South Korean publication Chosun, citing its own sources in the government.

According to the publication's anonymous source, officials were held responsible for the large-scale destruction and accused of corruption and negligence in their official duties.

“At the end of July, it was discovered that 20 to 30 leaders in the flood-affected area were shot on the same day,” the source said.

According to South Korean media, more than a thousand people have died or gone missing as a result of torrential rains and subsequent large-scale flooding in the North Korean provinces of Chagangdo and Pyonganbukdo. In response, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un said that such reports were “fabricated by the trash media” of South Korea.

At the same time, the North Korean news agency KCNA reported that the authorities were evacuating 15,400 people from the affected areas to the capital Pyongyang until the flood-damaged houses were rebuilt. According to Kim Jong-un, this will take at least two to three months, since the damage is enormous.

Recall that two years ago, the DPRK publicly executed two teenagers for watching and selling films from neighboring South Korea.
