Nobody in the West is afraid of Putin's threats: why are they delaying permission to strike deep into Russia? Angela Figin

Russia has begun to threaten NATO with direct confrontation due to Ukraine being granted permission to strike deep into Russian territory. However, in reality, the West is not afraid of Vladimir Putin's words and possible escalations from the aggressor country.

On air on 24 Channel political scientist Oleg Saakyan explained why partners are refraining from lifting restrictions on Ukraine's strikes on Russian territory and how Kremlin propaganda will explain to Russians when the Ukrainian Armed Forces finally receive permission.

What the West is really afraid of

Western countries are afraid of something else, that the words of Putin and his henchmen will be seized upon by, say, Hungary and a number of other useful players for Russia and will begin to shake the transatlantic unity within the NATO bloc and the Western coalition. They will say that with such a step the West will escalate the situation and will begin to spread it, creating points of division.

Putin says this (threatens war with NATO – Channel 24) in order to give a pass, for example, to Viktor Orban, so that he can then use it from within, – said Saakyan.

This is what the West is afraid of and wants to minimize, because losing unity, giving the opportunity to torpedo the leading countries in supporting Ukraine now is a threat. At the same time, everyone understands that Putin has no more escalatory steps left.

By the way, Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya has begun to threaten the West with war if Ukraine is allowed to strike at Russia.

Important! The White House has responded to Vladimir Putin's threats. The dictator's statement about “the direct participation of NATO countries and European countries in the war in Ukraine” is dangerous rhetoric, but there is nothing new in it. At the same time, White House National Security Advisor John Kirby said that the United States took Putin's warning seriously.

How propaganda will “explain” permission to strike deep into Russia to the Russians

The seizure of territories in the Kursk region is much more painful and significant than strikes on Russian airfields, where drones are landing now and a missile will land tomorrow. The occupation of Russian territories by Ukrainian troops is something that went beyond what the Russians could have imagined.

However, the Kremlin explained it by putting an equal sign between Kursk and, say, Zaporozhye. Accordingly, if according to the Russian constitution Zaporozhye is supposedly all Russian, but part of it is controlled by Ukraine, then what is the difference with the Kursk region, where part of the territory is also controlled by Ukraine, the political scientist noted.

The Russians made propaganda manipulations, reduced the significance of this, prepared an excuse. The same thing is now being done with strikes deep into Russia.

The propaganda machine has already come up with explanations. They say that they started the so-called “our own” because the West was preparing strikes on Russian territory. Accordingly, when strikes take place from the territory of Ukraine with Western weapons, they will say, well, that's why we started “our own”.
