The head of the UN General Assembly noted that the organization constantly demands that Russia withdraw its troops from the territory of our state. The aggressor country has repeatedly noted a violation of the fundamental principles of the organization, and therefore they expect that the occupiers will correct their behavior as soon as possible.

Such a statement by Dennis Francis voiced this in his interview. He noted that the resolution calls for the immediate and complete withdrawal of all Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine.

What the head of the UN General Assembly said

According to him, one state cannot “break the law blatantly and expect no consequences.” In particular, he recalled that Russia’s chairmanship of the UN Security Council will finally end on July 31, 2024.

Therefore, the diplomat expressed the hope that the troops of the aggressor country will leave before the end of the term territory of Ukraine.

We hope that the Russian authorities will decide to withdraw their troops before September of this year or earlier, but based on the fact that we saw, there is no guarantee that this will happen,” noted the head of the UN General Assembly.

Dennis Francis also promised that this issue will remain a priority on the agenda of the UN General Assembly.

In addition, he questioned the legality of Russia's membership in the main body as well as the Security Council. The official did not see a single document that would confirm the legitimacy of this.
