The main news of the night of June 30 is related to the war in Ukraine. In particular, Russian occupiers attacked the Kharkiv region with drones, and Ukrainian defenders in the Seversky direction captured two mercenaries from Cameroon.
There were also some sporting achievements. Ukrainian track and field athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh took first place in the women's high jump competition at the 2025 European Team Championships.

Russians attacked Kharkiv region
Russian troops attacked Pesochin, Kurortnoye and Dergachi with drones. The head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov reported that in the village of Pesochin the building of the service station was damaged and a fire broke out, four people were injured.
In Kurortnoye and Dergachi, drone strikes led to fires in civilian buildings.
Ukrainian Armed Forces Captured Mercenaries from Cameroon
In the Northern direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces captured Cameroon citizens. According to foreigners, the Russians tricked them into joining their troops.
One of the detainees, Metugen Una-na Jean Pafa, came to Moscow to work in a shampoo factory, and the other, Anatole Frank, came for treatment.
After arriving in Russia, they were detained by the migration service, and subsequently forced to sign a military contract under pressure. They were promised 1.1 million rubles for participating in the battles, which is less than the Russians.
During the first battle, Pafe came under fire and spent six days on his own until he surrendered to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Frank was captured during the assault. During an attempt to evacuate him, a Russian drone wounded him and two Ukrainian soldiers.
There are also reports of a Yemeni citizen being captured. The Cameroonians said that among the Russian mercenaries there are people from Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and China.
G7 countries agree to exempt US companies from global tax
The United States and the G7 nations have agreed that American companies will not pay a global minimum tax for large corporations. The Canadian Treasury Department said the deal would stabilize the international tax system by recognizing existing American laws.
Washington is expected to abandon the so-called tax retaliation bill envisaged by Donald Trump, which allowed for higher taxes on countries with “discriminatory” tax policies. Such a system could be considered the minimum tax system promoted by the OECD.
Maguchikh won the team Euro 2025
Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh won gold in the high jump at the 2025 European Team Championships, bringing Ukraine 16 points. She cleared 2.0 m on her first attempt, but failed to clear 2.03 m.
Silver was won by Belarusian Maria Zhodzik, who now represents Poland, and bronze by German athlete Imke Onnen.
Zelensky discussed with Macron the production of Renault drones in Ukraine
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said that at the NATO summit, Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Emmanuel Macron discussed the production of drones in Ukraine together with Renault.
The minister noted that France is using the income received from frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine.
Explosions thundered in Crimea
On the night of June 30, explosions thundered in the temporarily occupied Crimea. Russian air defense forces allegedly repelled a drone attack in the Kerch region.
Because of this, traffic on the Crimean Bridge was blocked and its lighting was turned off. The occupiers also raised military helicopters from the Kacha airfield. There is no official information about the downed drones or the consequences of the attack.
