The leader of ISIS was captured after a long surveillance of the house in Istanbul in which he was staying. During the raid, law enforcement officers did not open fire.
The previous terrorist leader was eliminated in Syria
On February 3, the White House reported that the US military had eliminated the leader of the Islamic State, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al Quraishi during a special operation in Syria. The terrorist has been the leader of the organization since 2019.
The counter-terrorism operation in northwestern Syria took place at the behest of US President Joe Biden. The US military was not injured. Also, the White House reported that several more people died along with the terrorist.

According to the Pentagon, American special forces entered into a shootout with one of al-Quraishi's lieutenants and his wife. Both of them died.
The United States refused to launch an airstrike in order to minimize the number of victims. According to the US military, al-Quraishi exploded himself, which also killed several more people.

The Americans – unofficially in comments to journalists – reported the loss one of the helicopters. Like, one of the helicopters involved in the operation in Idlib landed due to technical problems, after which it was destroyed by the US military.
However, according to the media, the Americans were fired upon by a suicide bomber, which then exploded near the helicopter.
