The North Atlantic Alliance has been discussing candidates for the post of NATO Secretary General for several months now. Among the candidates were many famous world politicians. Western media call the candidacy of Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte very convincing. The chief consultant of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, Ivan Uss, told Channel 24 whether his appointment will be a good sign for Ukraine. Countries supporting the candidacy of Dutch Minister Mark Rutte for the post of NATO Secretary General are working to ensure that the decision was made before the end of the summer of this year. Mark Rutte is a great friend and ally of Ukraine. However, it should be understood that the NATO Secretary General is mainly a relay of the opinions of all members of the North Atlantic Alliance. So he will not make decisions alone. Yes, he will not make decisions himself. But it is very important that even the formal position of secretary is headed by a person who has a favorable attitude towards Ukraine. So that it does not create problems at the technical stage of preparing decisions, noted Ivan Uss. For Ukraine, it is really very important that the staff of the NATO office be friendly to our state in their actions. In this sense, the candidacy of the Prime Minister of the Netherlands is very successful for Ukraine. After all, the Netherlands has always helped us, in particular, their country was the first to announce the supply of F-16 fighters to Kiev. “Of course, Rutte’s figure is not bad. Let me remind you that there were different options, before that, candidates from the UK are possible. In particular, Boris Johnson. But I think Mark Rutte is quite happy with Ukraine,” concluded Uss.A serious candidate for the post of Secretary General
