The day before, on September 15, a shooting took place near Donald Trump in Florida, which the FBI is investigating as an assassination attempt. It was later revealed that the suspect left a note detailing his plans.

This is stated in a statement by US prosecutors sent to the court. The corresponding note has already been made public.

The suspect in the assassination attempt on Trump left a note

The note was among the documents filed in federal court on Monday. In it, Root admitted that he planned the attack on Donald Trump and even predicted his failure.

This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, and I failed you. I tried my best and put into it the courage I could. Now it's up to you to finish the job, and I'll offer $150,000 to whoever can do it, the note says.

The assassination suspect also said that Trump was unfit to be president of the United States.

Prosecutors said the note was found in a box the suspect left at the home of an “unknown person” months before the shooting. According to investigators, it “suggests he had been planning the murder for a long time.”

By the way, AP writes that the box also contained ammunition, a metal pipe, construction materials, tools, telephones, and various letters. The person who received it and contacted law enforcement was not listed in the Justice Ministry detention report. Only described as a “civil witness.”

Law enforcement officers who searched Root's SUV found a handwritten list of dates in August, September and October, as well as places where the politician had appeared or was expected to be present.

Investigators also found six cell phones. In particular, one containing a Google search query on how to get from Palm Beach County to Mexico. In addition, 12 pairs of gloves, a driver's license and a passport.

In a court filing, prosecutors allege that the suspect's cellphone repeatedly connected to cell towers near Donald Trump's golf course and his Florida home between Aug. 18 and Sept. 15.

An assistant U.S. attorney said in court Monday that the suspect's note is “strong evidence of his intent.”

It's a message he wanted to send to the world before this incident, Mark Dispoto said.

Root now faces a felony weapons charge despite multiple convictions, including two counts of receiving stolen property in 2002 in North Carolina, as well as possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

However, an assistant U.S. attorney said in court on Monday that prosecutors will bring additional charges, in particular, attempting to “kill a 'main' political candidate.” If found guilty, the suspect faces life in prison.

Please note! U.S. citizen Ryan Routh never served in the International Legion of the GUR MO . He has no connection to the unit. The rumors that are circulating about this in some media outlets are not true, the GUR Legion emphasized.
